This showed Lucy would rather be poor than be a part of that lifestyle and that she desires freedom from her father over his wealth. Connecting the paying rent thing to her character, Lucy struggled to make money even though her father Jude was incredibly wealthy. They claimed that Gray had real problems and Lucy cried over a rice ball even though the rice ball being destroyed by Lucy's father symbolized that the lifestyle Lucy lived in didn't fit her and her father neglected her. People made fun of Lucy by making a comparison between her backstory and someone like Gray's. have very dark stories but Lucy's is the most grounded and relatable. Lucy has my favorite backstory in Fairy Tail. Her only goal was to make money in order to pay rent adding layers to her character which I'll go into now.

Did Lucy have much of a personal goal before Aquarius's reveal in the Alvarez Arc? Not really but Lucy's purpose at the beginning of the series was to serve as the outside perspective of the craziness that comes from the Fairy Tail guild. We were able to see Lucy's willingness to sacrifice one of her zodiac keys for the betterment of everyone else and she now has a new goal of obtaining Aquarius's key. At first, I was annoyed about Aquarius coming back after Lucy broke her key because that was an incredible moment for her character but this is a good trade-off. This personal goal also has more tension considering that Brandish has the same goal as Lucy. But at the beginning of 100YQ we see Lucy's determination full-front. Did we ever see him search for him? Nope. Already, we can see Lucy is trying to actually fulfill her goal unlike Natsu when his goal was to find Igneel. Lucy joined the 100 Year Quest because she learned from Virgo that Aquarius's key is in the same country that the quest is at. So what is Lucy's personal goal? Finding Aquarius's key before Brandish does.

Natsu had a personal goal of defeating Acnologia and trained hard in order to obtain Fire Dragon King Mode but for some reason he used it on Zeref. Lucy is one of the few characters in the series that not only has her own personal goal but also tries to follow through with it. I'll also be comparing her to Natsu a few times to really highlight her superiority as a character. I will be going over her personal ambitions, personality and character development. The pair go way back to their shared childhood friendship, and the innocence in their burgeoning relationship was adorable. Natsu and Lisanna have more than just romantic history. Looking back at the early episodes that had them together, it's hard to blame those shippers. As Natsu's first love, there are a large group of "NaLi" shippers who support the pairing. So, why didn't they declare their feelings to one another? And where did the (possible) lovebirds end up? Before answering that question, there's a very large elephant (wizard) in the room named Lisanna Strauss that should be addressed. At the end of the day, Natsu and Lucy are a good pair because of their long history and compatible personalities.
